Petrine Hvidts Minde was an old people’s home from 1916 to 1985. In 1992 the house was rebuilt into Petrines Gjestgiveri. We can now offer 12 rooms with a total of 25 beds.

In the second floor we have eight double rooms. All of them have tiled bathroom, three of them with a bathtub. One of the rooms has a small loft-room with room for one big or two small beds. Four of the rooms have fjord view, and four of the rooms have view to the mountains.

On the ground floor we have four double rooms with shared bath and toilets. There are sinks on every room and the beds are large and comfortable.

Nostalgia and comfort

Textile artist Torunn Halseid Marø was our interior consultant during the last redecoration in 1999. She was inspired by Carl Larsson. The rooms have become bright with a touch of summer, with white painted panels, cotton textiles and white pine floors. Maybe just like your childhood’s room at your grandmother’s?

If the old people living at Petrines Hvidts Minde could come back, they probably would not recognise the house. From the outside the house is the same, but inside there is nothing that reminds you of a past as an institution.
